Nepal "Living Goddess" Loses Status

  • Mood: Saddened
  • Moon Phase: Waning Moon
  • Weather: Hot
I came upon this article tonight and I thought it was a shame that this young girl is losing her "goddesshood" if you will all because she chose to travel to promote a documentary on the "living goddess" culture in Nepal.

Nepal "living goddess" loses status

I saw that too... I think being chosen as a living Goddess is really being chosen for a pretty hard life after puberty. I guess most of these girls don't marry because it's bad luck for the groom, they can't work, yet they still have to care for themselves because they're not special anymore. I guess until they enacted this $40 a month (or year?) salary, these girls were destined for poverty and homelessness with no means to provide for themselves.
